NAIDOC is the most significant celebration on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander calendar, Australia wide. It is a time for celebrations of Aboriginal people, culture and resilience.

NAIDOC is a time for offering our respect to our Ancestors, our Elders, supporting those emerging and making space for our young people to stand and be heard. NAIDOC is a time for acknowledging each other, our shared histories, our spirit and our hopes for the future. NAIDOC brings us together to celebrate our achievements, our unity and diversity. NAIDOC is a time for coming together with families, friends, communities, our allies and community partners.

The inaugural Illawarra Aboriginal Art Trail, during NAIDOC is about reaching out to all the community and inviting people to enjoy the diverse representations of contemporary Indigenous art from the area/Illawarra.

The Illawarra Aboriginal Art Trail highlights NAIDOC Week 2021 by showcasing First Nations artists from various ages, career stages, abilities, creative approaches and techniques. The exhibition, over 10 locations, and over 100 artworks, shows a wide range in styles, mediums and approaches, from the traditional, through to collage, surrealism, abstraction and everything in between.

The Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation, supported by Create NSW, and BlueScopeWIN Community Partners Program invites you to immerse yourself and enjoy the inaugural Illawarra Aboriginal Art Trail and be part of NAIDOC Week in the Illawarra.
