How it all started…

“A few years ago as a teacher, I was encouraged by Aunty Gai Brown of Wreck Bay to facilitate an Art Workshop for the Aurora Education Foundation. Teaching for me is not limited to the school classroom and many of our future generation need support and “teachings” outside of this space. I began working in the school holidays to ensure that everyone even the most vulnerable have the access to Art, Culture and Well-being.

From this humble beginning community has placed me where I am today…..”

Our Purpose

“What we do is an amalgamation of three core areas: Aboriginal Art, Culture & Wellbeing. I have taken my professional practice and extended this into the community. As a Visual Artist, Visual Arts Teacher, and Wayapa Wuurrk Practitioner I share stories through visual language, we share stories to build and maintain strong ethical community connections with both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people of Australia. Our purpose is to increase cultural awareness and promote Aboriginal Art, Culture and Wellbeing within our communities.”

  • Art

As a proud Dharawal woman, her curiosity of the world has inspired a varied amount of artwork that reflects a critical view of social, political, cultural, and environmental issues. She has exhibited works in Sapporo Japan, Shoalhaven Regional Gallery, Sydney Living Museum, Gerringong Library and Museum, Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation Cultural Centre, Nan Tien Art Gallery and featured on the ABC .

  • Culture

“Living in harmony with their environment is what sustained Australian Aboriginal people to be one of the world’s oldest, continuous living culture – for over 100,000 years! Today, for most of us, we have become disconnected from our environment, from our tribe, from our food, and from our Spirit.” (Uncle Jamie Thomas)

We provide opportunities for people to experience and participate in authentic culturally appropriate content to promote and sustain our culture. We work together to build and maintain a professional, strong, and ethical practice. Our focus and purpose is to increase cultural awareness and promote Aboriginal Art, Culture, and Wellbeing within our communities.

  • Well-being

Wayapa® Wuurrk is an earth connection practice that is based on ancient Indigenous wisdom that focuses on taking care of the Earth as the starting point for creating Earth Mind Body Spirit Well-being.

Through a combination of Earth mindfulness, narrative meditation, a series of physical movements, and taking action to look after the planet, Wayapa® provides a sense of belonging to the Earth while creating holistic well-being. Wayapa® is about creating a different lifestyle but for those just starting, it can be done as a physical practice, sitting or standing, or as a narrative meditation to slow us right down to sit in the stillness of nature.

Jaz is professionally experienced and “highly recommended” in facilitating professional Wellbeing and Art Workshops as provided for Department of Education, Illawarra Aboriginal Health, ANSTO, University of Wollongong, Australian Council of Arts, Bundanon Trust, Esoteric Festival, Uniting, Google Head Office and Welcome to Country.
